There’s a new little 5# baby in our home, but really there are 5 generations in her line! My mom is 94, I’m 72, our youngest son is 39, ( Can you say first time Grandpa Doug?) the new mom is 20 and baby Aria is 6 days old. Aria is # 55 of my mom’s progeny, her first great great grandchild! So, we now have 3 granddaughters & 1 great granddaughter living here and we feel blessed. Who could have predicted this chapter? Not me after 20 years of an empty nest, but I wouldn’t change a thing. Before you know it they will all grow up & fly the coop!
The new mom is a natural mother, so we hardly see the baby, or hear any noise at night, as mom has it all under control. I do get to hold her though, and boy is she tiny & precious. She’s had quite a few visitors who got to hold her, but she is mostly sleeping so far, and growing steadily.
My hubby David is shy about holding new tiny babies, so we finally got him to hold the new mom K when she was 6 weeks old 20 years ago. She cherishes that photo. So precious to see his big hands & her tiny features. We will definitely not wait 6 weeks to have him hold Aria & take a photo & compare!
My mom & Aria share the same birth month, June, 94 years apart, which is super special. I hope that they will get to meet before mom turns 100. She’s had 2 aunts that lived that long! The genes are on her side. ☺️
