Go go go stop!

Ok. Since August of 2022 my mission was to get the two older teens to 3 different schools, 5 different jobs, dozens of High school volleyball practices, games and events, special errands, numerous friends and a few miscellaneous things. I was more than happy to do it, in between enjoying my other activity, 2 other little granddaughters, holidays and my hubby. I knew that this would be a relatively short chapter, so I mostly relished it. Notice the past tense. Yup, most of this has come to a crashing halt & I’m proud to say that we have mostly weaned these lovely girls from my taxi services. Good for them!

You see, the almost 20 year old got a car, so sometimes she takes the now 18 year old to work & other places. She is so happy & feeling fulfilled with this great accomplishment! But, that is not the only reason that my driving days are diminishing. She chose for various reasons to wait to finish her last few High school credits, and now her sister made the same decision, choosing to only focus on one or two jobs. After these past 8 months dealing with 3 schools, I’m not super upset. I know based on experience with their dad that they will finish their credits when they decide to. I learned not to micro manage, only give advice. I have to let things go.

The younger one is now arranging her own Uber rides if a friend can’t drive her, and my days of being like her bank lender are almost over. The Cashapp app is handy for short loans until she gets paid, but annoying to enter all those transactions in my checkbook. Yes, I still use one, even though I have banking on my phone & can see it at a moments notice. I like to have hard copies in my hand! Can anyone relate?

So, besides a feeling of satisfaction from surviving & thriving in all this activity, I’ve probably gained a few pounds from all that sitting in the car, but I can get it off like I always do, I hope! This is the second time that I’ve been in this stage of parenting, and I can reassure you that no matter what stage you are at, “This too shall pass.” Enjoy it while you can. Before you know it they will be having babies of their own, and you get to watch and hand the babies back to them! 😀👶🏼❤️
