Oh my. In my 50 years of being an adult, I’ve never had 2 awesome chefs in residence but that’s what happens when you are blessed to have sweet granddaughters living with you!
I have loved cooking and baking and all things related to being a homemaker, and have cooked every cuisine you can imagine, or at least most of them, but I never had the talent of creating dishes in my teens without even using a recipe. These 2 do that all the time! Sure they look on Google for the ingredients but they barely pay attention to the instructions unless it’s baking. It took me many years to be able to throw things together that taste great.
The past few years I think “Been there, done that.” so I buy some main dishes at Costco. That worked for awhile, and the teens like them, but it sure is a treat when they decide to whip up something in the kitchen.
Two nights ago the 17 year old created her first spaghetti sauce with organic ground buffalo I had in the freezer. She learned that we don’t have to go to the store and buy Ragu! Lol. She fixed healthy noodles and a beautiful salad, and whole grain garlic bread. What a treat!
Last night the 19 year old concocted a tasty chicken pot pie. Yum! Again, except for the crust recipe, she guessed regarding how to prepare the ingredients. Amazing. What will they come up with next? The annual cookie baking, pizza making day with their little sisters is coming up. You can be sure that they won’t be just slapping on the frosting like I do! ( I mean really, people just chomp on your creations anyway right? 😂).
