When my kids were little I never had to call 911, but instead of doing that one time when our youngest, Doug, got a compound fracture of his arm I raced to the hospital, breaking the speed limit. But that’s another story!
Later when he had 2 little kids ( The teens now living with us.) he called 911 a few times, twice when each little girl had a feveral seizure and once when one choked on candy. Thankfully I wasn’t there, but there was a time when I was watching the now teen granddaughters when they were 2 & 4, and the little one started seizing. THAT is another crazy story to tell another time. 😅
Then a few years ago when I was watching his second set of girls, who were 4 and 2 at the time, the 4 year old had a fainting episode right in the foyer of the 711 store, after she pinched her finger in the door. And yes, THAT is another story that will be told another time! 😂
In recent years I’ve called 911 for hubby, but you KNOW what I’m gonna say right? Another story for another time.
Sooo, you will not be surprised that I have a bit of PTSD regarding people fainting. The other day the 17 year old had been having tummy troubles, maybe from a flu bug going around. Long story short, she fainted, but thankfully she was sitting on the floor & I caught her head. I yelled for SIRI to call 911, & thankfully the teen revived after about 20 seconds. My heart was pounding, but I practiced taking deep breaths. The paramedics said she just needed to get good food in her, which we did. She’s recovering nicely.
This all brings up a huge 911 incident from 1980. But, THAT story is for another platform. Only one teen boy involved in that incident.
When we love people with all our hearts, we hope that we never have to call 911, but when we do, hopefully we will remind ourselves that while we are on borrowed time, we are blessed to be here, and grateful to be here to help in all situations.
Parenting teens or not, go all in with your heart, even when it hurts. ❤️
